Founded the CERP Labs team, a revenue-generating software development unit within a research institution, focused on addressing issues that impede economic growth in developing countries. Built financially sustainable model, organizational capacity and trained a first-in-class software development team. Collaborated with research teams, private sector partners and international development organizations. Established and led projects in Education, Healthcare and COVID-19 related monitoring and economic recovery.
MISchool — Led product design and development of the School Management application targeting low-cost private schools in Pakistan. Designed sales strategy, built a sales team and led roll-out of the app to over 700 schools and 80,000 students across 6 districts of Punjab.
IlmExchange — Led product development of an education platform comprised of several components addressing systemic constraints to education outcomes as identified by LEAPS research. Led a team which built a marketplace connecting low-cost private schools and education service providers, an emergency student learning portal during COVID school closures, and merged capabilities with the MISchool application to better mitigate learning losses.
World Bank: Mapping Food Insecurity in Karachi — Designed, led and won proposal with the World Bank to build an interactive dashboard visualizing food insecurity hot-spots in informal settlements in Karachi. Collaboratively designed and rapidly produced tool for government officials in the wake of COVID-19 lockdowns, and augmented the dashboard to support a wide range of indicators across cities and survey sources.
Economic Vulnerability Assessment — Conceptualized and advocated for a public assessment to quantify the economic impact of COVID-19 and lockdowns on populations in Punjab. Brought Principal Investigators on-board and secured funding. Managed multi-round survey activity based on a random digit dial sample, and produced multiple publicly distributed reports.

CogEnv — Architected and led development of core software library as well as a rich set of agents to manage distributed, multimodal inputs and outputs enriched by Watson. This enabled downstream developers to create plugins and applications for cognitive environments.
Election Explorer — Led development of and built knowledge graph service of political data around contributions, news, legislative activity and lobbyist info. Exposed the data through a custom-built question/answer interface and APIs. Architected frontend web application, enabling a large development team to work efficiently simultaneously. Designed and built interactive graph visualization to facilitate graph traversal of political data in an intuitive way.
Toomba — Designed, pitched and led development. Generates a knowledge graph from unstructured natural language using several independent Watson services. Enables developers to use different databases to host the Graph. Wrote plugins for Neo4J, SQL, Gremlin and Redis backends. Led a team in creating several Question-Answer services built on top of Toomba using both Neo4J and Postgres backends.
Toombot — Authored and presented thesis on using AI as an agent-in-the-middle to enrich conversations between humans. Architected and built a conversational framework leveraging Watson services to realize this vision.
